The Bronx’s Ruth Otero, a former member of local comedy troupe SalSoul, gives a delightful performance in this funny one-woman show about her contentious relationship with her half-crazed, devoutly Christian mother. Otero plays herself, her Puerto Rican mom and neurotic older sister as she recounts off-the-wall anecdotes from the family’s often-turbulent history. Otero is a gifted physical comedienne, but it’s her strong writing that succeeds in painting a portrait of how her mother becomes a monster.
