Create & Produce Your One-Person Show!

"She makes doing a solo show look easy." -- Backstage"

The ABCs of a One-Person Show

Three Hour Workshop

Are you a natural born storyteller who finds themselves "taking the stage" at dinner parties with tales about your childhood, relationship mishaps or crazy boss?  Have you heard people say "You should do your own show!" more than once?  Have you toyed with the idea, but don't know how to begin?  Then this workshop is for you.

The ABCs workshop will inform you how to turn all the things you love about storytelling into a one-person show.

You will learn:

             *  The difference between stand up and a solo show
             *  How to find the story you want to tell
             *  How to get constructive and safe feedback
             *  What it takes to get a show from the page to the stage.

You no longer have to wonder what it takes to create a one-person show!

The ABCs of a One Person Show

One Day Intensive

This workshop will introduce you to the tools that have helped Ruthy create, produce and perform three of her own one-person shows.  The workshop will demystify the process of starting with a concept for a show and seeing it through to it's fruition.

Through writing exercises and a safe, supportive environment, you will learn how to overcome your fear of not being a writer, how to find your story, create characters, and tell the truth in a fun and unique way. We'll also cover important aspects of producing your show such as budget, booking a theatre, publicity, working with a director, and more.

Creating and performing a one-person show can be scary, but fear doesn't have to stop you from telling your story and having a good time doing it.

Maximum of 8 students.

Time:            11:00am - 6:00pm

The ABCs of a One-Person Show

Six Week Workshop

This ongoing workshop will give you the opportunity to use the tools learned in the weekend workshop, such as commitment, creative block busters, showing vs. telling, creating characters and the value of going where it feels scary in your writing.

Each week you will present your writing and get specific feedback from me and your fellow writers based on 5 basic questions that help lead you further into your unique story, not someone else's idea of what your story should be.  My goal is to help you trust yourself and your writing.

On the sixth week you'll have the opportunity to perform a 10 minute piece of your work-in-progress for an invited audience.

*No experience necessary.  Maximum six students.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
